What

The Downtown Development Commission (DDC) is pleased to announce the Winter Festival Bicycle Decorating Contest. This contest will be a part of the Cumberland Winter Festival and Market to take place at Canal Place Plaza on December 2nd and December 9th.

The contest will provide an opportunity for non-profits, school clubs/organizations and community organizations to decorate a bicycle and be eligible for cash prizes.

Why

The event will provide opportunities for promotion and awareness of local non-profits and school and community groups. This contest will complement two of our area’s main attractions – the Great Allegany Passage (GAP) Trail and the C&O Canal Towpath and provide an interactive activity for attendees of the festival.

When

Voting will take place where the bikes will be displayed at the Cumberland Winter Festival and Market at the Canal Place Plaza from 5PM – 9PM on December 2nd and December 9th.

Winners will be announced the week of December 11th and cash prizes will be delivered by December 31, 2024.

Who

Non-profits (501c3 proof required), school clubs/organizations and community organizations are eligible to enter a bike in the contest.

First Prize: $1,000
Second Prize: $500
Third Prize: $250
Fourth Prize: $150
Fifth Prize: $100

Determinations of Winners

Contest winners will be determined by a public vote at the Cumberland Winter Festival and Market on December 2nd and December 9th from 5PM – 9PM each evening.
